Chapter 1: The Genesis - Why Grip Was Born

    2020-2022: The Vision Takes Shape

Until recently, investing in high quality fixed income products in India felt like navigating a maze. The process was complex, intimidating, and out of reach for the majority of retail investors.

From high minimum investment amounts to limited transparency and very little liquidity in the secondary marketbonds and other investment-grade debt instruments remained an insider’s game. Most individuals stuck to fixed depositsnot because they offered great returns, but because they were simple, familiar, and easy to access.

This gap left a generation of investors settling for less, not due to a lack of interest, but because of limited access and clarity.

Grip Invest was created to change that.

By offering opportunities with minimum investment amounts of just INR 100, integrating with the stock exchange, and simplifying the entire investment process, Grip has opened the door to smarter, safer fixed-income opportunities. Our vision was simple – make fixed-income investing as accessible, transparent, and efficient as buying a stock.

And that vision is now shaping the future of India’s bond market.

    Chapter 2 : Breaking Barriers – Democratizing Fixed-Income

    2022-2023: Laying the Foundation

Grip began its journey by launching lease and inventory financing, and took a significant step forward by listing India’s first Securitised Debt Instrument (SDI)“LeaseX,” on the NSE in October 2022. This bold step was more than just a product launch; it was a move that made regulated, high-yield fixed-income opportunities in the Indian market accessible to a wider range of investors.

By introducing SDIs, Grip allowed both new and experienced investors to diversify their portfolios with secure and transparent fixed-income products, signalling a shift toward more inclusive and innovative investment solutions.

In September 2023, Grip became India’s first SEBI-regulated Online Bond Platform Provider (OBPP)marking a major milestone in the evolution of fixed-income investing. This move introduced a new level of structure, transparency, and investor protection to the bond market.

These early initiatives were not just about expanding Grip’s product lineup but also about shaping a more dynamic and investor-friendly fixed income market in India.

Grip focused on simplicity, access, and trust, helping everyday investors explore new possibilities beyond the traditional investment options.

Here is how we broke a few barriers along our journey:

Our journey has also been backed by some of India’s most respected investors who believe in our mission to democratise fixed-income investing.

    Testimonial From a Grip User-

I always thought fixed income investing was only for big players with deep pockets. Grip completely changed that for me. I started small, understood the risks clearly, and gradually built a portfolio that gives me steady returns without the daily stress of market swings. It's simple, transparent, and actually made me feel in control of my money for the first time.” - Rohit Mehra, 34, Mumbai

Chapter 3: Innovation in Action – Building For The Future

    2023-2024: Expanding Features and Access

Retail investors have often faced challenges with unclear pricing and limited visibility when buying bonds, making it difficult to know if they were getting a fair deal. To address these issues, Grip became the first OBPP platform to implement the Request for Quote (RFQ) mechanism in October 2023.

This move allows investors to receive live price quotes from multiple market participants, bringing a new level of transparency and reliability to the bond-buying process.

With the RFQ system, investors benefit from:

    1. Increased transparency and reliability: All securities are listed with real-time price quotes, helping investors make market-aligned decisions with confidence.
    2. Reduced settlement time: The time required for securities to reflect in the investor’s Demat account is just one day, streamlining the process.
    3. Increased convenience: Investors can conveniently and securely make payments for purchases by directly transferring funds to the exchange through payment gateways.
    4. Multiple payment options: The platform supports various payment methods, including UPI, Net Banking, NEFT, and RTGS, enhancing flexibility and ease of transaction

In July 2024, Grip introduced India’s first privately placed INR 10,000 bond, a significant step in making fixed income investing truly accessible to retail investors. This move allowed individuals to start investing in bonds with a much smaller ticket size, opening the door to better risk-adjusted returns without needing large amounts of capital.

Following that, Grip launched After Market Orders(AMO), enabling investors to place orders for fixed income investments in bonds and SDIs,  even beyond regular trading hours. This added flexibility made it easier for working professionals and first-time investors to participate in fixed income markets at their convenience, further aligning bond investing with the ease and accessibility of equity markets.

These milestones pushed fixed income investing closer to how equity markets operate, more flexible, transparent, and accessible. For retail investors, this meant greater control, better liquidity, and a smoother bond investment experience.

Case Study: How AMO Helped Naveen Invest Without Disrupting His Workday

Profile: Naveen Kumar, a working professional from Bengaluru, Karnataka, actively invests in bonds and SDIs through Grip Invest.

Challenge: With a busy professional schedule, Naveen found it difficult to align his investment decisions with regular market hours, often delaying actions due to timing constraints.

Solution – AMO on Grip Invest: The After Market Order (AMO) feature changed his experience. It allowed Naveen to place investment orders at his convenience, outside market hours, without rushing or compromising on planning. Now, he can invest even on weekends and holidays. This allows him to properly research and select the right investment opportunity according to his financial goals.

    Outcome:

    • Smooth investing experience with no need to track market timings.
    • Seamless payment and automatic credit of units to his Demat account.
    • Greater control over both his professional routine and financial goals.

    Testimonial:

"The AMO feature has been very convenient. I can invest anytime without waiting for markets to open. It helps me manage both my work and investments effortlessly." LinkedIn Link

Chapter 4: Scaling New Heights - The Marketplace Era

2024-2025: Exponential Growth and Community Impact

Grip is not just adding features; it is creating an entirely new experience where fixed income investing feels as flexible, accessible, and rewarding as equity markets.

As the company evolves, the focus has shifted from launching individual features to reimagining the entire investor experience. What was once a platform to explore curated fixed income options is now shaping into a dynamic, self-sustaining marketplace; one that mirrors the fluidity and autonomy of equity markets, but for bonds.

At the heart of this transformation lies a simple promise: make bond investing feel effortless, accessible, and empowering for every Indian retail investor. This isn’t just a tech upgrade, it’s a mindset shift.

This new era is defined not by what Grip has added, but by what investors can now do, diversify, rebalance, exit, and discover-on their own terms.

    Testimonial From Our Customer:

Grip has completely changed how I invest. Features like Sell Anytime and Investment Baskets make fixed income feel accessible and flexible. Plus, the growing investor community makes it easier to learn and stay confident.”

    Divya Gupta, 39, New Delhi.

Chapter 5: The Road Ahead – Ambition, Inclusion, and Innovation

2025 and Beyond: Vision for the Future

Grip is only at the beginning of its journey. With a bold vision to democratise fixed income investing in India. By scaling access, deepening transparency, and simplifying complex products, the platform is committed to building an inclusive investment ecosystem that puts the retail investor at the centre.

As Grip moves forward, the focus remains clear:

    1. Expand investor access to high-quality fixed income opportunities
